Curious Poppet
Poppet sees a hole. Will Poppet go in, or go around? In drawings and writings, I've used the hole as a metaphor for depression over the years.
I thought to recreate this idea in three dimensions. After I sculpted this little being, I saw that I could look beyond The Hole (of depression) to include other investigations. Maybe Poppet gazes into the Bucket of Truth.
Or, perhaps, at an oddly shaped leaf, or a tiny creature, or any number of things that want a closer examination.
In the end, Poppet showed me that this expression attaches itself to all the silly humans. I had to agree.
Open edition, cold cast marble, signed and dated on the base. Hole included.
Poppets are always watching.
